Ottawa police see a 33 percent increase in hate crime in 2021. Does it mean we didn’t prevent enough hate? Or did we need to spread more kindness? The latter is because hatred and compassion are inversely proportional. Let’s spread kindness. We need to help make our community a better place. It is not going to happen on its own.
Encouraging kindness can be done through various methods, such as modelling kind behaviour, praising kind actions, teaching empathy and social skills, and providing opportunities for acts of kindness. It can also be encouraged by creating a positive and supportive community, promoting a culture of kindness and setting expectations for respectful behaviour.
