People of all races and ethnicities are at different stages of their anti-racist journey. Bias can be unintentional or unconscious. Racism results from a mix of social and institutional power and racial prejudice.
However, to be an anti-racist community, we need to identify, discuss, and challenge issues of race, colour, and ethnicity and their impact on the vulnerable among us. The victims could be in the highest positions among us or socially and economically the most vulnerable in our communities.
Ignoring glaring examples of racism and discrimination do us no good. They become part of our history. We will be gone, but our future generations will feel ashamed (https://lnkd.in/gNKG_7Jq) of how we ignore some instances of blatant discrimination or consider prevailing inequities normal in our age.
