British Columbia’s new anti-racism data act will help fight systemic racism
We need similar legislation in every province to fundamentally change government and community development programs and services in by removing long-standing barriers for the victims of systemic discrimination.
Diversity data is important because it:
- Helps organizations understand their current demographics and track progress towards diversity goals.
- Highlights any inequalities and biases in hiring, promotion and other processes.
- Creates accountability and drives action to address diversity and inclusion issues.
- Improves decision-making by bringing different perspectives and experiences to the table.
- Enhances the reputation of the organization and appeals to a wider range of customers and employees.
